The FIND-STEM platform is an e-learning environment developed under the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. The project is managed by a consortium of partners dedicated to enhancing STEM education.

2. Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It

2.1 Registration and E-Learning Activities

When you register for our platform to participate in learning activities, we collect the following personal information:

  • Identity Data: First name and last name.
  • Contact Data: Email address and phone number.
  • Demographic Data: Country and City.
  • Educational Performance Data: We track your progress through learning modules, quiz results, activity completion timestamps, and certification status.

Purpose: This data is required to provide the educational service, issue certificates of completion, and generate aggregated reports for the Erasmus+ National Agencies and the European Commission to verify project impact.

2.2 Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to assist in spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

2.3 Media

If you upload images to the website (e.g., as part of a forum post or profile update), you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

2.4 Cookies

  • User Experience: If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies for your convenience. These last for one year.
  • Authentication: If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies (discarded when you close the browser). When you log in, we set cookies to save your login info (2 days) and screen options (1 year). If you select “Remember Me”, your login persists for two weeks.
  • Content Creation: If you edit or publish an article, a cookie containing no personal data is saved to indicate the post ID of the article you just edited (expires after 1 day).

2.5 Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content.

3. Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell your personal data. However, your data is shared under the following conditions:

  • Erasmus+ Reporting: Your name, location, and learning results are shared with the project consortium partners and the European Commission/National Agencies for audit and reporting purposes.
  • Security: Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
  • Administrative: If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

4. How Long We Retain Your Data

  • Comments: Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely to recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically.
  • User Profiles: For users that register on our website, we store the personal information provided in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username).
  • Erasmus+ Compliance: Notwithstanding the above, project-related data (including participant lists and certification logs) will be retained for a minimum of 3 years following the final payment of the Erasmus+ project grant, as required by EU law for financial and technical audits.

5. What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you.

Note: This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes, particularly those required for the justification of EU funding (Erasmus+ participation records).

6. Data Security

We employ industry-standard encryption and security protocols to ensure that your learning progress and personal identifiers are protected against unauthorized access.
